Las Vegas, April 10, 2011

At the 2011 NAB Show, Chyron today announced it will be demonstrating a series of enhancements to the company’s portfolio of graphics solutions. Together, these enhancements improve the performance of Chyron systems, as well as the user experience, while further simplifying creation and playout of broadcast graphics.

Chyron will demonstrate enhancements to its HyperX3, LEX3, and MicroX on-air graphics systems, each of which offers more powerful processing and an expanded range of capabilities without an increase in price point. Shipping now, the HyperX3.1 supports faster real-time rendering, in turn enabling broadcasters to take even more sophisticated 3D graphics to air quickly. Graphics built on the newest HyperX3.1 maintain compatibility with and can be played out on earlier versions of the popular Chyron system.

An update to Chyron’s Channel Box2 software (v. 4.1) introduces a playlist sequencer that allows single traffic log events to play out multiple Channel Box2 scenes. By automating this process and reducing the operator workload, the playlist sequencer streamlines the workflow and saves the broadcaster valuable time.

Another time-saving Channel Box2 function showcased at the 2011 NAB Show is the automated application of effects between pages. When many pages are being played out back to back, as in the case of school closing or elections coverage, the operator can simply select the effect in the Channel Box2 system and apply that effect across numerous page transitions with a single click. The effect is automatically built into the animation, simplifying the workflow while adding greater visual interest to a series of similar messages.

Chyron is giving show attendees a sneak peak at upcoming software enhancements within the “BlueZone” at the company’s booth. Visitors can see how the Lyric PRO software soon will bring playout control to the iPad® and other PC tablets. The tablet user can select and view thumbnails of Lyric messages and actually play them to air. In the studio, for example, news anchors can use an iPad to select their own templates to put on air, and then use Chyron’s Touch GraphX touch-screen graphics feature to manipulate those graphics in real time.

“Our goal in refining Chyron products is to meet the complex demands of an evolving marketplace while providing solutions that simplify graphics creation and playout workflows for our customers,” said Peter Morrone, senior vice president of engineering and product management at Chyron.
